Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Aicente("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit aicente.com(the "Platform"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners.

In addition to traditional cookies, we also use similar technologies such as:

  • localStorage / sessionStorage — browser storage APIs for persisting preferences locally
  • IndexedDB — used by Firebase Auth and Firestore for offline token caching
  • Custom Events — internal browser events dispatched when consent preferences change

This policy covers all such technologies collectively referred to as "cookies".

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • To authenticate users and maintain secure sessions
  • To protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks
  • To remember your language, sidebar, and interface preferences
  • To track referral codes at signup (one-time attribution, cleared after use)
  • To locally cache your profile data and reduce API calls
  • To enable offline-capable features via Firestore caching
  • To understand how the Platform is used (analytics — not yet active)

We do not currently use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or third-party data sharing.

4. Third-Party Services and Their Cookies

The Platform integrates the following third-party services that may set or access cookies and browser storage:

We do not sell or share your personal data with these third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the services described above.

6. Managing and Withdrawing Consent

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using any of these methods:

  1. Cookie icon button — a persistent cookie icon is shown at the bottom-left of every page after your initial consent decision. Click it to reopen the Manage Choices modal.
  2. Browser settings— clear all cookies and localStorage via your browser's privacy settings. This will reset your consent preference and show the banner again on your next visit.
  3. Browser developer tools — open DevTools → Application → Local Storage → aicente.com and delete the aicente_cookie_consent key.

Withdrawing consent for non-essential cookies will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before your withdrawal.

7. Browser-Level Cookie Controls

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Common options include blocking all cookies, accepting only first-party cookies, or deleting cookies when you close the browser. Note that blocking required cookies will prevent core Platform features from working correctly.

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

8. GDPR — European Economic Area and UK Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR apply to the processing of your personal data via cookies.

Our legal basis for setting non-essential cookies is your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent under Article 6(1)(a) and Recital 32 of the GDPR. You have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6)
  • Request access to personal data we hold about you
  • Request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Required cookies are set on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — specifically the security and functionality of the Platform — and do not require your consent.

9. CCPA — California Users

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you additional rights regarding your personal information.

Under these laws, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about you
  • Know whether your personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Cookie data collected is used solely to operate and improve the Platform.

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at privacy@aicente.com.

10. Children's Privacy

Aicente is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 via cookies or any other means. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

Some of the third-party services we use (notably Firebase and Google OAuth) are operated by Google LLC, headquartered in the United States. When data is transferred to the US or other countries outside the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Google's EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • We will increment the consent version in our system, prompting you to re-confirm your preferences
  • For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or an in-app notice
